Target
Heart Rate Formula
Beginner:
First, take 220 and subtract your age. Then, take the number
calculated and multiply it by 60% (.60) and then 70% (.70). These
two numbers give the range of your target heart rate.
Intermediate: 220-age X 70%,80%
Advanced: 220-age X 80%,90%
Example: 220-30=190. Multiplied by 80% you get 152, and multiplied
by 90% you get 171. Therefore, this person's target heart rate
for cardio is 152-171 heart beats per minute.
